Lake Lights

I arrived at Dallas's White Rock Lake before sunrise as I often did while shooting there in November and December 2001 to take advantage of the sunrise light's affect on the scenery there. This day the sky was overcast, however. It seemed as dark as midnight. From the vantage point of a fishing pier some lights in another part of the park jumped out, enhanced by their reflections in the lake.

Exposure time with the Olympus E-10 was one second at f2.4 and ASA of 80. Full zoom was used for a focal length of 140mm (35mm equivalent).

Click on the image to see a more detailed view. You can make out the boundary where the trees and the sky meet. A lone star peeking through a break in the overcast is visible as well.
